How to Master the Turkish Get-Up
Purpose: To perfect the foundational movements of standing up from a lying position. This full body exercise involves a series of coordinated movements that involve the activation of muscles in different joint angles on both sides of the body. First, this exercise must be attempted with just bodyweight (do not hold a weight). With more practice, your shoulder joints will become stronger and more stable to support a heavier load.
Key reminders: engage your abdominal muscles, keep the elevated arm straight, and spine neutral (straight). Practice on both sides of your body.
